Two-Factor Authentication (MFA)

  • TOTP-based Multi-Factor Authentication is now available for all LookupTax accounts. Set up via Profile → Security using any authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, etc.).
  • 8 single-use recovery codes are generated at setup and can be downloaded — use these if you lose access to your authenticator device.
  • MFA is enforced on both password login and OAuth (Google / Microsoft) sign-in flows.
  • Admins can reset MFA for locked-out team members from the organization settings.

Security Hardening & New Countries

  • Security hardening following VAPT audit: Helmet security headers, CORS policy enforcement, and stronger password policy with forced resets for non-compliant accounts.
  • Canada (Quebec) — QST (Quebec Sales Tax) number validation is now supported.
  • Moldova — Tax ID validation added to supported countries.

Data Encryption & Batch Enhancements

  • AES-256-GCM encryption is now applied to all PII fields (email, name, phone) stored on the platform — strengthening GDPR compliance at the data layer.
  • Organization-level batch limit whitelisting — account admins can request higher batch quotas without changing subscription tier.
  • Batch results now support pagination and CSV download for easy export into ERP or accounting systems.

Brazil, Japan, Saudi Arabia & Bahamas — Available on All Tiers

  • Brazil (CNPJ), Japan (Corporate Number), Saudi Arabia (TIN), and Bahamas (TIN) validation are now available on all subscription tiers including the free plan.
  • Launched validation guide pages for 40+ additional countries with formatting rules, FAQs, and direct links to official government registries.

Batch Validation

  • Batch validation is now live — use the spreadsheet-style UI to paste or upload Tax IDs and validate them in bulk directly from the portal.
  • CSV upload support: import a list of Tax IDs and download results as a CSV — no API integration required.

Saudi Arabia Support & API Restructure

  • Saudi Arabia TIN (Tax Identification Number) validation is now live, connecting directly to ZATCA (Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority).
  • API responses now include separate source_status and format_status fields. When a government database is temporarily down, validations with a valid format return format_status: valid with source_status: null — letting checkout flows proceed without friction while flagging transactions for later reconciliation.   • Annual billing is now available on all paid plans — pay yearly and save 10% compared to monthly billing. Switch anytime from your account settings.
