Přiznání k DPH — monthly

Daň z přidané hodnoty (VAT) · Monthly · return filing

25th of the month after the month ends Verified 2026-09-23
Who files
Every VAT payer (plátce) on the default monthly tax period — anyone who has not elected, or cannot elect, the calendar quarter, including every VAT group and every unreliable payer
Notes
The return and the tax are both due by the 25th of the month after the month ends, and the deadline cannot be extended. If the 25th is a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday you have until the next working day — which is why the November 2026 return is due on Monday 28 December. File it even for a month with nothing to declare. The only filing route is electronic: a return sent in any other form is treated as not filed at all. A payer with no seat or establishment in Czechia is the exception to the nil-return duty and files only for months with something to report.

Přiznání k DPH — quarterly (elective)

Daň z přidané hodnoty (VAT) · Quarterly · return filing

25th of the month after the quarter ends Verified 2026-09-23
Who files
VAT payers who chose the calendar quarter for the year: domestic turnover in the previous calendar year not above CZK 15,000,000, not an unreliable payer, not a VAT group, and the change notified by the end of January — not available in the year of registration or the year after
Notes
Quarterly filing is a choice you make for a whole calendar year, and it has a deadline of its own: tell the tax office by the end of January. Miss that notice and you stay monthly for the year even if you qualify. Once you are quarterly you need not repeat the notice each year. The return and payment fall on the 25th after each quarter, moved to the next working day when needed, so the third quarter of 2026 is due on Monday 26 October, because the 25th is a Sunday. If you become an unreliable payer you drop back to monthly from the next quarter.

Přiznání k DPH — identifikovaná osoba

Daň z přidané hodnoty (VAT) · Monthly · return filing

25th of the month after the month ends Verified 2026-09-23
Who files
Identified persons (identifikovaná osoba) — typically businesses below the VAT-payer threshold that buy services or goods from other EU countries and must self-account for Czech VAT on them
Notes
If you are registered only as an identified person you file a VAT return for a month only when you actually owe Czech VAT for it — typically because you bought a service from a supplier in another EU country. Months with nothing to declare need no return and no notice. When a return is due it follows the payer timetable: the 25th of the next month, moved to the next working day where needed, with the tax payable the same day.

Kontrolní hlášení (VAT control statement) — monthly

Daň z přidané hodnoty (VAT) — kontrolní hlášení · Monthly · report / listing

25th of the month after the month ends Verified 2026-09-23
Who files
Every VAT payer that is a legal person (a VAT group through its representative member), whatever its VAT period — plus natural persons whose VAT period is the month
Notes
The trap in the Czech system: a company files the control statement every month even when it files its VAT return quarterly. A quarterly-filing company therefore owes twelve control statements a year, eight of them in months with no return. It is due by the 25th after the month, moved to the next working day where needed, it cannot be extended, and it must be filed electronically. A month with no supplies or deductions to report needs no statement.

Kontrolní hlášení — quarterly, natural persons

Daň z přidané hodnoty (VAT) — kontrolní hlášení · Quarterly · report / listing

25th of the month after the quarter ends Verified 2026-09-23
Who files
VAT payers who are natural persons (sole traders) and whose VAT period is the calendar quarter
Notes
Sole traders are the one group allowed to file the control statement quarterly: it rides with your VAT return and follows its period, so a quarterly filer sends four a year, on the same day as the return. This does not extend to companies — a quarterly-filing company still files monthly. As with the return, it goes in electronically and the date moves to the next working day when the 25th is not one.

Souhrnné hlášení (EC Sales List) — monthly

Daň z přidané hodnoty (VAT) — souhrnné hlášení · Monthly · report / listing

25th of the month after the month ends Verified 2026-09-23
Who files
VAT payers making exempt intra-EU supplies of goods, transfers of own goods, triangulation as the middle party, call-off stock movements, or services where the customer in another EU country accounts for the tax
Notes
Monthly, by the 25th after the month, filed electronically. Unlike several neighbouring countries, Czechia offers no quarterly option based on the value of goods: if you supply goods to another EU country, the EC Sales List is monthly. Spotted an error later? A corrective statement is due within 15 days of finding it.

Souhrnné hlášení — quarterly, services only

Daň z přidané hodnoty (VAT) — souhrnné hlášení · Quarterly · report / listing

25th of the month after the quarter ends Verified 2026-09-23
Who files
Quarterly VAT payers whose only reportable EU supplies are services taxed in the customer’s country (§ 9 odst. 1) — no goods at all
Notes
If you supply only services to business customers elsewhere in the EU, the EC Sales List follows your VAT return — so a quarterly filer lists quarterly, alongside the return. The first supply of goods ends that: from then on you must file monthly statements, including for the months of the current quarter already passed, and you stay monthly for the rest of the calendar year.

Daň z přidané hodnoty (VAT) — souhrnné hlášení · Monthly · report / listing

25th of the month after the month ends Verified 2026-09-23
Who files
Identified persons (not VAT payers) who supply services to business customers in other EU countries, or act as the middle party in a triangular trade in goods (§ 102 odst. 3) — often sole traders below the registration threshold
Notes
For a small business registered only as an identified person, this is often the one recurring VAT filing it owes. It is due only for months in which you actually made a reportable supply — for example a consulting service to a German company — by the 25th of the following month. Months without such a supply need nothing.

OSS return — Union scheme (režim Evropské unie)

Daň z přidané hodnoty (VAT) — OSS · Quarterly · return filing

last day of the month after the quarter ends Verified 2026-09-23
Who files
Businesses using the Union One-Stop-Shop with Czechia as member state of identification, for intra-EU distance sales of goods and B2C services taxed in other member states
Notes
Quarterly, due by the last day of the month after the quarter, with the tax paid in euro by the same day. File even for a quarter in which you made no sales under the scheme. This deadline does not move for a weekend or holiday: 31 October 2026 is a Saturday and the return for the third quarter is still due that day, as are the returns due on Sunday 31 January, Saturday 31 July and Sunday 31 October 2027.

OSS return — non-Union scheme (režim mimo Evropskou unii)

Daň z přidané hodnoty (VAT) — OSS · Quarterly · return filing

last day of the month after the quarter ends Verified 2026-09-23
Who files
Businesses established outside the EU supplying services to EU consumers, with Czechia as member state of identification
Notes
The non-EU scheme uses the same quarter and the same end-of-next-month date as the Union scheme, nil returns included. When that last day is a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, it stays the last day — you do not get the following Monday, so file on the preceding working day if you are not working that weekend.

IOSS return — import scheme (dovozní režim)

Daň z přidané hodnoty (VAT) — IOSS · Monthly · return filing

last day of the month after the month ends Verified 2026-09-23
Who files
Sellers of low-value imported goods (or their intermediaries) using the import One-Stop-Shop with Czechia as member state of identification
Notes
The import scheme runs monthly, not quarterly like the other two One-Stop-Shop schemes — the usual mistake for anyone registered in more than one. Return and payment are due by the last day of the following month, a nil return is compulsory, and the date stands on a weekend: 28 February and 31 May 2026 were both live deadlines.

Oznámení — cross-border SME scheme, quarterly

Daň z přidané hodnoty (VAT) — režim pro malé podniky · Quarterly · report / listing

last day of the month after the quarter ends Verified 2026-09-23
Who files
Czech-established small businesses registered for the SME exemption in other EU countries (režim pro malé podniky pro jiný členský stát)
Notes
Using the EU-wide small-business exemption means a quarterly turnover report, split by member state, due by the end of the month after each quarter — even for a quarter with no sales. Like the One-Stop-Shop returns and unlike the domestic VAT deadlines, it does not move off a weekend: the report for the third quarter of 2026 is due on Saturday 31 October.

within 10 business days of the day domestic turnover exceeded CZK 2,000,000 or CZK 2,536,500 in the calendar year (§ 94 odst. 1) Verified 2026-09-23
Who files
Czech-established taxable persons whose domestic turnover in a calendar year exceeds CZK 2,000,000 (payer from 1 January following) or CZK 2,536,500 (payer from the day after it is exceeded)
Notes
Ten working days from the day your turnover crosses the line. There are two lines and they work differently: pass CZK 2,000,000 in a calendar year and you become a payer from 1 January of the next year; pass CZK 2,536,500 during the year and you are a payer from the very next day. Since 2025 the test is the calendar year, not a rolling twelve months, and the old "15th of the following month" deadline no longer applies.

Přihláška k registraci skupiny (VAT group)

Daň z přidané hodnoty (VAT) · Annually · registration

31st October each year, for that same year Verified 2026-09-23
Who files
Connected persons applying to register as a VAT group (or to add or remove a member, or to cancel the group) with effect from 1 January of the following year
Notes
A group that wants to exist from 1 January must apply by 31 October of the year before. The same date applies when a VAT payer joins an existing group or a member leaves it; a business that is not yet a VAT payer can join during the year, from the first day of the second month after the application. Late is not merely late — an application filed after the deadline has no effect, and the group simply does not exist next year. When 31 October falls on a weekend the deadline moves forward: in 2026 it is Monday 2 November.

Spotřební daň — monthly return

Spotřební daně (excise duties) · Monthly · return filing

25th of the month after the month ends Verified 2026-09-23
Who files
Payers of the excise duties on mineral oils, spirits, beer, and wine and intermediate products under zákon č. 353/2003 Sb., for each month in which a liability arose (imports excepted) — and payers of the tobacco-type duties (tobacco products, heated and other tobacco products, e-liquids, nicotine pouches and other nicotine products) only where the tax was not paid by tax stamp. Raw tobacco has its own row
Notes
The excise return is due by the 25th of the month after the month in which the liability arose, moved to the next working day where needed, and is filed with the Customs Administration rather than the tax office. The money is not due on the same day — it falls later, on the payment deadline listed separately. Tobacco sold under tax stamps has no monthly return at all: ordering the stamps is the return and applying them is the payment. Imports follow customs rules, and a few specific events trigger a return on the first working day after they occur.

Payers of the excise duties on mineral oils, beer, and wine and intermediate products — and of the tobacco-type duties where the tax was not paid by tax stamp. Spirits has its own later date, raw tobacco is paid with its return on the 25th, and stamped tobacco is paid when the stamps are applied
Notes
Excise is paid on the fortieth day after the month ends — counted in days, so the date wanders between the 9th and the 12th of the second month: the January 2026 liability was due 12 March, the December one 9 February. The return goes in first, on the 25th; the money follows about two weeks later. A weekend or holiday pushes the payment to the next working day, as with 12 October 2026 for the August liability.

Raw tobacco is taxed monthly, and unlike the other excise duties the money is not due later: the return and the tax are both due by the 25th of the month after the month the liability arose, moved to the next working day when needed. A new payer must also register within 7 days of becoming one.

Czech deadlines move forward to the next working day when they land on a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday — payments as well as filings — except on the One-Stop-Shop returns and the cross-border small-business report, where the VAT Act switches that off by name and the deadline stands on the non-working day itself. The tax administration publishes both behaviours in one calendar: the September VAT return moved to Monday 26 October 2026 while the One-Stop-Shop return stayed on Saturday 31 October. The holiday list is every state and other holiday under the holidays act; Czech law creates no substitute day when a holiday falls on a weekend. VAT is paid on the day the return is due; excise is the exception, payable on the fortieth day after the month (the fifty-fifth for spirits). There is no annual VAT return. Excise is administered by the Customs Administration. Not shown because they run from events rather than dates: returns by non-payers within 25 days of a taxable event, One-Stop-Shop change and cessation notices, a follow-up control statement within 5 working days of finding an error, the energy-tax notice for a period with no liability, and the notice due within 15 working days of passing EUR 100,000 under the cross-border small-business scheme. EET 2.0 is an income-tax sales-records regime and is out of scope, as are income tax, payroll, property, road and gambling taxes, the Pillar Two top-up taxes and refund claims.

“Připadne-li poslední den lhůty na sobotu, neděli nebo svátek, je posledním dnem lhůty nejblíže následující pracovní den; to neplatí, jde-li o lhůtu určenou v kratších časových jednotkách, než jsou dny.”

What this calendar does not list

  • Not applicable Annual or reconciliation return — Czechia has no annual VAT return and no annual reconciliation return, and that was tested rather than assumed. The VAT Act offers only two domestic tax periods — the calendar month (§ 99) and the calendar quarter (§ 99a); § 99b only re-cuts months in insolvency, and no provision creates an annual domestic period. The annual input-tax pro-rata settlement is made inside the last periodic return of the year, on the ordinary 25th deadline (§ 76 odst. 7: "Vypořádání odpočtu daně plátce provede za poslední zdaňovací období vypořádávaného období."). The tax administration's own 2026 calendar carries 59 VAT events and none of them is an annual return.
  • Not applicable E-invoicing / e-reporting cycle — No VAT e-invoicing or e-reporting mandate exists or is enacted. An electronic invoice needs the customer's consent (VAT Act § 26 odst. 3), and no provision requires invoices to be sent to the tax administration; the only transaction-level VAT reporting is the control statement, which is already a periodic row here. EET 2.0, an enacted sales-records regime not yet in force, is not this: it binds income-tax payers (bill § 2 odst. 1) and records sales transaction by transaction, with no periodic VAT submission cycle. EU ViDA digital reporting (2030) has not been transposed. Revisit when it is.

About this calendar

Which Czechia tax deadlines does this calendar cover?

25 recurring indirect-tax obligations — Daň z přidané hodnoty (VAT), Spotřební daně (excise duties), Spotřební daň z lihu (spirits excise), Energetické daně and Daň ze surového tabáku (raw-tobacco tax) returns, payments and related filings — each with the due-date rule, who must file, and the official source that states the deadline. Direct-tax, payroll and company-registry deadlines are out of scope.

How current are these due dates?

Every obligation carries the date it was last verified against its official source (newest: 2026-09-23). Law-change dates come from the weekly Last Week in Taxes scan and link to their full change records.

Do the dates account for weekends and public holidays?

No — the calendar shows the statutory due date. Where the authority shifts deadlines falling on non-working days, the obligation notes say so. Confirm against the linked official source before relying on a date.
