VAT) · Quarterly · return filing

25th of the month after the quarter ends Verified 2026-10-15
Who files
Every VAT payer and every tax agent — including tax agents that are not themselves VAT payers or are exempt — and businesses outside VAT that issued an invoice showing VAT; one return per taxpayer at its place of registration, not per branch
Notes
The return for each calendar quarter is due by the 25th of the following month — for the third quarter of 2026, Monday 26 October, because the 25th is a Sunday. It can only be filed electronically through an EDI operator; a paper return counts as not filed. The purchase and sales ledgers go inside the return, and a nil return is due even for a quarter with no sales. A return more than 20 days late lets the FNS freeze the company’s bank accounts. A business with no transactions and no money moving through its accounts can file the single simplified declaration instead, by the 20th of the month after the quarter.

VAT) · Quarterly · payment

28th of the month after the quarter ends Verified 2026-10-15
Who files
VAT payers and tax agents with VAT payable for the quarter on domestic supplies
Notes
The quarter's VAT is split into three equal parts, and the first is due by the 28th of the month after the quarter — three days after the return. For the third quarter of 2026 that is Wednesday 28 October. The money goes to the unified tax account as part of the single tax payment.

Уплата НДС — second third of the quarter's VAT

VAT) · Quarterly · payment

28th of the 2nd month after the quarter ends Verified 2026-10-15
Who files
VAT payers and tax agents with VAT payable for the quarter on domestic supplies
Notes
The middle third is due by the 28th of the second month after the quarter. It is the instalment most often pushed by a weekend: for the third quarter of 2026 the 28th of November is a Saturday, so it is due Monday 30 November, and the fourth-quarter instalment moves from Sunday 28 February 2027 to Monday 1 March.

Уплата НДС — final third of the quarter's VAT

VAT) · Quarterly · payment

28th of the 3rd month after the quarter ends Verified 2026-10-15
Who files
VAT payers and tax agents with VAT payable for the quarter on domestic supplies
Notes
The last third falls due by the 28th of the third month after the quarter, so the third quarter of 2026 is finally settled on Monday 28 December, and the fourth quarter on Monday 29 March 2027 because the 28th is a Sunday. The next month the cycle restarts with the first third of the following quarter.

173 — VAT shown on an invoice by a non-payer

VAT) · Quarterly · payment

28th of the month after the quarter ends Verified 2026-10-15
Who files
Businesses that are not VAT payers or are exempt from VAT but issued an invoice showing an amount of VAT in the quarter
Notes
A business that does not normally pay VAT but put VAT on an invoice owes that VAT in full — not in thirds — by the 28th of the month after the quarter. It also has to file the quarterly VAT return by the 25th. Exempt businesses that show VAT on an invoice, for instance to let a customer deduct it, are the usual case.

174.2) — foreign e-services return

25th of the month after the quarter ends Verified 2026-10-15
Who files
Foreign companies registered with the FNS under Art. 83(4.6) that supply electronic services to individuals in Russia and are paid by them directly, and foreign intermediaries made liable for such supplies; foreign sellers of goods from other EAEU states sold to Russian individuals through an online marketplace file on the same dates
Notes
A foreign supplier of e-services to Russian consumers files its quarterly return through its FNS taxpayer account by the 25th of the month after the quarter, falling back to an EDI operator only while the account cannot be used. Sales to Russian businesses are not reported here: the business customer accounts for that VAT itself. Foreign sellers of goods located in another EAEU state who sell to Russian individuals through an online marketplace follow the same timetable under Article 174.3 of the Tax Code.

28th of the month after the quarter ends Verified 2026-10-15
Who files
Foreign companies registered under Art. 83(4.6) supplying electronic services to individuals in Russia, and foreign intermediaries liable under Art. 174.2(3); foreign marketplace sellers of EAEU goods pay on the same date
Notes
Unlike a Russian business, a foreign e-services supplier pays the whole quarter's VAT at once, by the 28th of the month after the quarter — three days after its return. For the third quarter of 2026 that is Wednesday 28 October; for the fourth, Thursday 28 January 2027.

VAT) · Quarterly · report / listing

20th of the month after the quarter ends Verified 2026-10-15
Who files
Businesses that are not VAT payers, or are exempt, and are not tax agents, but issue or receive VAT invoices while acting for someone else — commission agents, agents, freight forwarders and developers; VAT payers report the same data inside their VAT return instead
Notes
Intermediaries outside the VAT system still have to tell the FNS about the invoices they pass on: the journal of invoices issued and received for the quarter is filed electronically by the 20th of the following month, five days before VAT returns are due. It is only required for a quarter in which such invoices were issued or received.

Национальная система прослеживаемости товаров (goods traceability, administered by the FNS) · Quarterly · report / listing

25th of the month after the quarter ends Verified 2026-10-15
Who files
Businesses and sole traders that bought, sold or otherwise dealt in goods on the Government’s traceability list during the quarter — mainly those on special tax regimes or exempt from VAT; VAT payers report most such sales in their VAT return instead
Notes
Businesses dealing in goods on the traceability list report their operations with those goods to the FNS once a quarter, by the 25th of the following month, electronically through an EDI operator. The report is only due for a quarter in which such operations took place. Goods shipped from Russia to another EAEU state carry a separate notice, due within five working days of shipment.

EAEU import declaration and payment

20th of the month after the month ends Verified 2026-10-15
Who files
Any business — including those on the simplified regime or otherwise exempt from VAT — for each month in which it took onto its books goods imported from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan (or a leasing payment fell due under such an import)
Notes
Goods arriving from another EAEU country clear no customs border, so their import VAT is declared and paid to the FNS instead: the declaration, with its supporting documents, and the tax itself are both due by the 20th of the month after the month the goods were taken onto the books. Businesses outside the VAT system owe it too, which is why it is often missed. Saturday 20 February 2027 is a working day under the 2027 holiday decree, so the January 2027 imports are due that Saturday. Excise on marked excisable goods follows its own timetable.

83) — registration of foreign e-service suppliers

within 30 days of starting to supply e-services (or marketplace sales of EAEU goods) to individuals in Russia Verified 2026-10-15
Who files
Foreign companies supplying electronic services to individuals in Russia, foreign intermediaries liable under Art. 174.2(3), and foreign sellers of EAEU goods to Russian individuals through online marketplaces
Notes
A foreign supplier must apply to the FNS for registration no later than 30 calendar days after it starts selling e-services to Russian consumers, and the same 30 days apply when it stops, to deregister. Russian businesses have no separate VAT registration: they become VAT payers when they register for tax generally, and there is no turnover threshold to cross.

Акциз (excise tax) · Monthly · return filing

25th of the month after the month ends Verified 2026-10-15
Who files
Producers and other payers of excise on alcohol, tobacco, fuels, vehicles and other excisable goods — except holders of certificates for processing straight-run gasoline, middle distillates and similar feedstocks, and the other special operations in Art. 204(3.1)–(3.5), which run later
Notes
Excise is accounted for monthly: the return for each calendar month is due by the 25th of the next month, the same day of the month as the quarterly VAT return, at the head office and at each registered branch. Certificate holders processing petrochemical feedstocks file by the 25th of the third month instead, and some other special operations pay months later — those longer timetables are not shown here.

Russian VAT runs on calendar quarters with one return and three payments: the return is due by the 25th of the month after the quarter, and the tax is paid in three equal parts by the 28th of each of the next three months, so one third of some quarter's VAT falls due every month of the year. The return can only be filed electronically through an EDI operator. A deadline that lands on a weekend or a non-working public holiday moves to the next working day, and the government's annual holiday-transfer decree decides which days those are — in 2027 it makes Saturday 20 February a working day. Payments go to the unified tax account as a single tax payment; because each VAT return is due before the payment it supports, VAT needs no separate notification of calculated amounts. Goods brought in from another EAEU state are taxed through a separate monthly declaration rather than at the border. A business using the turnover-based VAT exemption must notify the FNS by the 20th of the month from which it applies it. Foreign suppliers of electronic services to Russian consumers register, file and pay under their own rules. Profit tax, payroll taxes and customs duties are outside this calendar. The 22% standard rate in force from 1 January 2026 did not change any deadline. This calendar describes Russian tax rules only and is not guidance on whether trade with Russia is permitted.

“7. В случаях, когда последний день срока приходится на день, признаваемый в соответствии с законодательством Российской Федерации или актом Президента Российской Федерации выходным, нерабочим праздничным и (или) нерабочим днем, днем окончания срока считается ближайший следующий за ним рабочий день.”
Screenshot of the official source stating the rule that governs Russia's deadlines
Налоговый кодекс РФ, часть первая — статья 6.1, пункт 7 — КонсультантПлюс (commercial consolidation of the official text), captured 2026-10-15

What this calendar does not list

  • Not applicable Annual or reconciliation return — Chapter 21 of the Tax Code sets a quarterly VAT tax period (Art. 163) and provides no annual or reconciliation VAT return; excise likewise runs on calendar months (Art. 192). Checked 2026-10-15.
  • Not applicable E-invoicing / e-reporting cycle — Chapter 21 of the Tax Code (Arts. 169 and 174) fixes no submission deadline for electronic invoices. Electronic invoicing is mandatory for goods subject to traceability, but that is a rule about issuing the invoice; invoice data reaches the FNS through EDI operators and through the purchase and sales ledgers filed with the quarterly return. Checked 2026-10-15.

About this calendar

Which Russia tax deadlines does this calendar cover?

13 recurring indirect-tax obligations — Налог на добавленную стоимость (НДС / VAT), Национальная система прослеживаемости товаров (goods traceability, administered by the FNS) and Акциз (excise tax) returns, payments and related filings — each with the due-date rule, who must file, and the official source that states the deadline. Direct-tax, payroll and company-registry deadlines are out of scope.

How current are these due dates?

Every obligation carries the date it was last verified against its official source (newest: 2026-10-15). Law-change dates come from the weekly Last Week in Taxes scan and link to their full change records.

Do the dates account for weekends and public holidays?

No — the calendar shows the statutory due date. Where the authority shifts deadlines falling on non-working days, the obligation notes say so. Confirm against the linked official source before relying on a date.
