Lebanon Tax Number Format Checker
Check the format of a Lebanese Ministry of Finance tax number (الرقم المالي), with or without its VAT code.
What is a Lebanese tax number?
The Lebanese tax number (الرقم الضريبي, commonly الرقم المالي or financial number) is the serial number the Ministry of Finance gives every taxpayer — one number for all taxes. VAT-registered businesses print it with a code, such as 112407-601 for LibanPost, where 601 means subject to VAT.
Lebanese tax number format
A serial number, plus a 3-digit code for VAT payers.
number
(601 = VAT payer)
Example: 112407-601 (LibanPost SAL, as listed in a purchasing report of the Institut des Finances Basil Fuleihan).
- Length: No fixed length; the business numbers seen in official documents have 4 to 7 digits.
- Input: With or without the -601, -603 or -604 code; the code is removed before the check.
- Individuals: Individuals’ tax numbers are personal data, so this page uses a company example only.
- Format check only: This checker confirms the number is made of digits only. It cannot confirm that the Ministry of Finance issued it: there is no public register to check against, and no check digit is published.
How to check a Lebanese tax number
- 1 Find the tax number on the supplier’s invoice or Ministry of Finance registration certificate.
- 2 Enter it above, with or without its VAT code. The checker confirms the format.
- 3 Check the code: -601 means the supplier is registered for VAT.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Lebanese tax number (الرقم الضريبي), often called the financial number (الرقم المالي)?
The tax number the Ministry of Finance gives every taxpayer on registration — one number for all taxes. Individuals receive it on a tax card and businesses on a registration certificate.
Is the Lebanese VAT number different from the tax number?
No. A VAT-registered business uses the same Ministry of Finance number followed by a hyphen and a code — for example 112407-601, where 601 means subject to VAT.
What do -601, -603 and -604 mean?
601 marks a taxpayer subject to VAT; 603 and 604 are used for VAT refunds. The Ministry of Finance’s refund form for diplomatic missions and international organisations uses 603.
How many digits is a Lebanese tax number?
There is no fixed length: it is a serial number. The business numbers in a 2022–23 government purchasing report have 4 to 7 digits, and the Ministry of Finance’s VAT forms allow up to 9 digits before the code.
Can I check a Lebanese tax number online?
No. The Ministry of Finance has said it has no public online TIN-verification tool, so ask the supplier for its Ministry of Finance registration certificate. The Commercial Register search (Ministry of Justice) finds a company by its register number or trade name, not by its tax number.
Must the tax number appear on invoices?
Yes. Taxpayers must use their Ministry of Finance registration number on every document they issue, and leaving it off an invoice is fined 0.5% of the transaction.
