What changed in detail
The Texas Comptroller’s quarterly notice of local sales and use tax rate changes, effective 1 October 2026, lists: new or increased city sales taxes in Beckville, Ellinger, Frost and Northlake; abolition of local taxes in Bellmead, Naples, Orchard and Roscoe, and of the Northlake development corporation tax; a new Ellis County Emergency Services District No. 1 tax; and the merger of Shoreacres into La Porte (Harris County), effective the same date, with Shoreacres abolishing its sales tax as it ceases to exist as a separate city.
What it means
The Shoreacres–La Porte merger is the item most likely to be missed by a rate table keyed only on rate changes: the Shoreacres row does not get a new rate, it disappears, and any address previously coded to Shoreacres now resolves under La Porte. Everything else here is routine quarterly maintenance, but “routine” is exactly why it is worth a checklist rather than a memory: eight cities and one new special district move in a single cycle, and Texas resolves local tax at the jurisdiction level rather than a single statewide add-on.
