What changed in detail
The West Virginia Tax Division’s list of municipalities imposing sales and use taxes, issued 17 April 2026, shows that Danville, Farmington, Gilbert, Kenova, Keyser and Wellsburg will each impose a 1% municipal sales and use tax from 1 January 2027.
This takes the combined rate in those municipalities to 7%.
What it means
Sellers with a presence or deliveries in any of the six municipalities need to add the local rate from the first day of 2027. The notice was issued months ahead, so the lead time is long; the risk is forgetting it in the year-end rate refresh, particularly for deliveries by remote sellers.
Proof
