Andorra NRT Format Checker
Check that an Andorran NRT (Número de Registre Tributari) has the correct format: letter, six digits and a control letter.
What is an Andorran NRT?
The NRT (Número de Registre Tributari) is Andorra’s tax register number, which every person and entity with Andorran tax dealings must hold, resident or not. It is a letter for the type of holder, six digits and a control letter — for example A-700085-C for Mora Banc Grup, SA. Businesses also use it for IGI.

letter
Example: A-700085-C (Mora Banc Grup, SA, as printed in its own published terms).
- Letters: A, C, D, E, F, G, L, O, P and U are the only first letters in Andorra’s official list.
- Ranges: Resident individuals (F) run from 000000 to 699999; companies (A, L) from 700000 to 799999.
- Personal NRTs: Most individuals’ NRTs are built from their NIA — personal data, so this page uses company examples only.
- Format check only: This checker confirms the letter–six digits–letter pattern. It does not yet check that the first letter is on the official list, the number range for that letter, or the control letter. Andorra has no public NRT register, so it cannot confirm that a number has been assigned.
How to check an Andorran NRT
- 1 Find the NRT on the supplier’s invoice — full invoices must show it.
- 2 Enter it above, with or without hyphens. The checker confirms the format.
- 3 Check that the first letter fits the supplier: A for a societat anònima, L for a societat limitada, E for a non-resident.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the first letter of an NRT mean?
F is a resident individual and E a non-resident individual or non-resident entity. For Andorran entities: A is a societat anònima, L a societat limitada, C a comunitat de béns, D a public body, G a tax group, O a collective investment scheme, P an association or foundation and U a parapublic entity.
Does Andorra have a separate VAT (IGI) number?
No. Businesses use their NRT for IGI, the Andorran general indirect tax. A full invoice must show the NRT of both the issuer and the recipient, or, for a party resident abroad, the tax number from its country of residence.
Is the NRT the same as the NIA?
For resident individuals, the NRT is their NIA (Número d’Identificació Administrativa) preceded by F. For non-residents who have an NIA, it is the NIA preceded by E.
Can the last letter of the NRT be calculated?
It is a control character — Andorra’s tax regulations require one in every company’s NRT — but the tax administration has not published how it is calculated, so a format check cannot confirm it.
Is Andorra in VIES?
No. Andorra is not in the EU VAT area, so Andorran NRTs cannot be checked in the EU’s VIES system.
Does a company’s NRT ever change?
An entity’s NRT stays the same whatever changes it goes through, unless it changes its legal form or nationality.
