Check a Monaco RCI number against the Répertoire du Commerce et de l’Industrie and see the business’s legal form and status, with the name after sign-up.
What is a Monaco RCI number?
The RCI number is a business’s entry number in Monaco’s Répertoire du Commerce et de l’Industrie (Trade and Industry Directory), which every trader, commercial company and economic interest group (GIE) in the Principality must join. It has 8 characters — two digits, a letter and five digits — for example 97S03277 for Monaco Telecom S.A.M. It is not a VAT number.

Example: 97S03277 (Monaco Telecom S.A.M., printed as “RCI 97 S 03277” on its own documents and listed as active in the register).
- Input: Enter it with or without spaces. Short forms are padded for you: “56 S 523” is checked as 56S00523, and the older “SC” spelling as C.
- No check digit: The last five digits are a running number, so only the register can confirm an RCI.
- Status: A found number shows its register status. A struck-off business (Radiation Définitive) is still found, so read the status, not just the result.
- Not found: If the checker says the register is unavailable for a correctly formatted number, the number may simply not be on the register.
- VAT and NIS: This checker does not check Monaco VAT numbers (FR…) or the NIS.
How to check a Monaco RCI number
- 1 Find the RCI number at the top of the business’s invoice, letter or order form.
- 2 Enter it above. The checker looks it up in the Répertoire du Commerce et de l’Industrie.
- 3 Check that the status is Active and that the name (shown in full after sign-up) matches the business.
- 4 Checking a Monaco VAT number instead? See our guide to verifying EU VAT numbers in VIES — Monaco numbers are checked under France.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the letter in a Monaco RCI number mean?
It shows the register series: S for companies (including branches of foreign companies), P for sole traders, C for civil companies and G for economic interest groups (GIEs). Some documents write civil-company numbers with SC instead of C, such as 92SC06957; the register treats it as 92C06957.
Where do I find a company’s RCI number?
At the top of its invoices, letters and order forms: Monaco law (Law no. 721, art. 18) requires every registered business to show its RCI number there. Companies often print it with spaces, such as “RCI 97 S 03277”.
Does a Monaco company have a SIREN or SIRET number?
Not as its Monaco registration. Monaco businesses are registered in the RCI, not in the French company registers, so an RCI number is not a SIREN or SIRET. Some Monaco companies also hold a French SIREN because they have activity or obligations in France — a separate French number.
What is the Monaco VAT number format?
Monaco is treated as part of France for EU VAT, so its VAT numbers are French-format: FR, a 2-digit key and 9 digits — for example FR73000042183 for Monaco Telecom. Check them in VIES under France.
What is the difference between the RCI number and the NIS?
The RCI number identifies the business in the commercial register. The NIS (statistical identification number) is issued by Monaco’s statistics office, IMSEE: a NAF activity code plus a 5-digit number, such as 6110Y07638. Every NIS was updated when NAF 2025 took effect on 1 January 2026, so a NIS on older documents may no longer match.
What does “Radiation Définitive” mean?
The business has been permanently struck off the register. Its RCI number still exists in the register’s records, but the business is no longer registered.
