Guernsey Registry Number Checker

Check a Guernsey company or other registry number against the Guernsey Registry and see the entity’s type and status, with the name after sign-up.

What is a Guernsey company registration number?

A Guernsey company registration number is the number the Guernsey Registry gives a company when it is incorporated. Numbers start at 1 and run in sequence — for example 46442 for Sirius Real Estate Limited, shown in the Registry’s online register as CMP46442. For companies incorporated in Guernsey it also serves as their tax identification number.

Guernsey registry number format

A register prefix and a sequential number.

CMP Register
(CMP = companies)
46442 Registration number
(1–6 digits)

Example: 46442 / CMP46442 (Sirius Real Estate Limited, as printed on its own website and listed with status Normal in the Guernsey Registry).

  • Prefixes: CMP companies · LP · LLP · FND foundations · CH charities · NP non-profit organisations.
  • Input: Bare digits are checked as a company (CMP). For other registers, include the prefix.
  • Status: A found number shows its register status. Normal is the live status; wound-up and dissolved entities are still found, so read the status, not just the result.
  • Alderney: Alderney companies are on a separate register that this checker does not cover.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the register show CMP in front of the number?

The Guernsey Registry’s online register adds a prefix showing which register an entity is on: CMP for companies, LP for limited partnerships, LLP for limited liability partnerships, FND for foundations, CH for charities and NP for non-profit organisations. Companies usually print only the digits (for example “registered number 46442”).

Is the Guernsey company number unique?

Only within its register. The same digits can belong to different entities on different registers — CMP2075 and LP2075 are not the same entity — so use the prefix for anything other than a company.

Does a Guernsey company have a VAT number?

No. Guernsey has no VAT or GST in force, so there is no VAT number to check. The States approved a tax package including a GST on 2 October 2026, but it has not yet been legislated.

Is the company number the company’s tax identification number?

For companies incorporated in Guernsey, yes: Guernsey reports the company registration number as the TIN for international tax exchange. Companies incorporated elsewhere but tax-resident in Guernsey get a Revenue Service tax reference instead, such as 1C 123456 / O.

Does the Guernsey company number have a check digit?

No. Registration numbers start at 1 and increase sequentially, so only a register lookup can confirm one.

Are Alderney and Sark companies on the Guernsey Registry?

Alderney keeps its own Register of Companies under the Companies (Alderney) Law, 1994, which this checker does not cover. Sark has no company legislation.
