Mongolia Company Register Number Checker

Check a Mongolian company’s 7-digit register number against Mongolia’s taxpayer records and see its VAT status, with the name after sign-up.

What is a Mongolian company register number?

The register number (регистрийн дугаар) is the 7-digit number the General Authority for State Registration gives a company or other legal entity when it is registered — for example 2071096 for the Mongolian Stock Exchange. It is different from the 10-digit state registration number (улсын бүртгэлийн дугаар) that some company records also show.

Mongolian company register number format

Seven digits, with no letters or separators.

2071096 Register number
(7 digits)

Example: 2071096 (the Mongolian Stock Exchange, as shown on its own issuer profile).

  • Not the 10-digit number: A 10-digit number labelled “State Registration №” is a different number.
  • Individuals: A citizen’s register number is two letters and eight digits — personal data, not checked here.
  • VAT status: A found number shows “VAT registered” or “Not VAT registered”.
  • Not found: If the checker says the registry is unavailable for a 7-digit number, the number may simply not be in the records.

How to check a Mongolian company register number

  1. 1 Find the 7-digit register number on the company’s electronic registration certificate, or ask the company for it.
  2. 2 Enter it above. The checker looks it up in Mongolia’s taxpayer records.
  3. 3 Check the VAT status and that the name (shown in full after sign-up) matches the company.
  4. 4 Have a 10-digit number? That is the state registration number — ask the company for its 7-digit register number.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many digits does a Mongolian company register number have?

Seven digits, numbers only — for example 2071096 for the Mongolian Stock Exchange. A citizen’s register number is different: two letters and eight digits.

What is the difference between the register number and the state registration number?

A company has both. The register number (регистрийн дугаар) has 7 digits. Company records such as stock-exchange profiles may also show a separate 10-digit “State Registration №” (улсын бүртгэлийн дугаар). The law also gives each company a case-file number (хувийн хэргийн дугаар), and both the register and case-file numbers appear on the electronic registration certificate.

Who issues the company register number?

The General Authority for State Registration (Улсын бүртгэлийн ерөнхий газар) assigns it when the company is registered. The tax office then registers the new company as a taxpayer based on that registration data.

How do I check whether a Mongolian company is VAT-registered?

Our checker shows whether the business is registered for VAT. The Mongolian Tax Administration also publishes a search of VAT payers. Under the VAT Law, a VAT invoice carries the taxpayer number of the seller and of a VAT-registered buyer.

What does an individual’s Mongolian register number look like?

Two letters followed by eight digits, encoding the date of birth and sex. It is personal data, and this checker is for 7-digit company numbers only.

Does a Mongolian register number have a check digit?

No check-digit rule has been published. Older numbers follow a common pattern, but recent numbers do not, so only a lookup can confirm a number.
