Vietnam Tax Code (MST) Checker
Check a Vietnamese mã số thuế and look it up in the tax registry — with the registered name, address and status.
What is a Vietnamese tax code (MST)?
The mã số thuế (MST) is Vietnam’s tax identification number. Companies and other organisations have 10 digits — for example 0300588569 for Vinamilk — and their branches 13 digits, written XXXXXXXXXX-XXX. For an enterprise, the MST is the same as its business registration number; Vietnamese individuals use their 12-digit personal ID number.
Vietnamese MST format
Ten digits for an organisation; branches add a three-digit suffix.

Example: 0300588569 (Vietnam Dairy Products JSC — Vinamilk, as printed on its website).
- 10 digits: For companies and independent organisations.
- 13 digits: Branches add -XXX to the parent’s MST. This checker currently accepts 10-digit MSTs only.
- Registry lookup: A valid 10-digit MST returns the name, address and status. The registry is sometimes slow or unavailable — retry later if so.
- Personal IDs: A Vietnamese individual’s 12-digit personal ID is their tax code; it is personal data and not checked here.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the format of a Vietnamese tax code (MST)?
Companies and other independent organisations have a 10-digit MST — for example 0300588569 for Vinamilk. Branches and other dependent units have 13 digits, written XXXXXXXXXX-XXX: the parent’s 10 digits plus a 3-digit suffix.
Is the MST the same as the business registration number?
For an enterprise, yes: the code issued at business registration is also its tax code. Vinamilk, for example, prints the same number as its MST and its business registration certificate number.
What tax code do individuals use?
Vietnamese individuals and household businesses use their 12-digit personal identification number as their tax code; foreigners without one receive a 10-digit MST. Personal IDs are personal data, so this page uses company examples only.
Does the MST have a check digit?
Yes — the 10th digit. The tax authority has not published how it is calculated; the commonly used mod-11 formula matches live numbers, and the often-used sample 1234567890 fails it.
Do the first two digits show the province?
Not officially. Vietnam’s rules describe the first two digits as a range-partition number, not a province code.
How do I look up a Vietnamese company’s tax code?
Vietnam’s Tax Department (Cục Thuế, formerly the General Department of Taxation) runs a public lookup showing the registered name, address and status for an MST. Our checker queries the tax registry for 10-digit MSTs.
