Slovak IČO Checker
Look up a Slovak identifikačné číslo organizácie (IČO) in the official register and see the registered name, address and status.
What is a Slovak IČO?
The IČO (identifikačné číslo organizácie) is the 8-digit number that identifies an organisation in Slovakia’s register of legal persons — for example 35829052 for Slovenské elektrárne, a.s. Companies, sole traders, branches of foreign companies and public bodies receive one, and it is never reassigned. It is not a tax number.
Slovak IČO format
Eight digits, with no letters or prefix.
(check digit in practice)
Example: 35829052 (Slovenské elektrárne, a.s., Bratislava; printed as 35 829 052 in the commercial register).
- 8 digits: Leading zeros count (00686930 is Tatra banka). Spaces are presentation only.
- Check digit: No official rule is published. Almost every IČO follows the weighted mod-11 rule also used for Czech IČOs, and this checker uses it to catch typos; a very small number of registered IČOs do not follow it.
- One per organisation: Each organisation gets one IČO, and it is never given to anyone else, even after the organisation ceases to exist.
- Not an IČO: The 10-digit DIČ and the IČ DPH (SK + 10 digits) are tax numbers, not IČOs.
How to check a Slovak IČO
- 1 Find the IČO on the business’s invoice, website or contract — it is usually printed next to the DIČ and IČ DPH.
- 2 Enter the 8 digits above. The checker tests the format and looks the number up in the official register.
- 3 Compare the returned name, address and status with the business’s details.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I check a Slovak IČO? (Ako overiť IČO firmy?)
Enter the 8 digits in the checker on this page. It looks the number up in the official register and shows the registered name, address and status, so you can confirm it belongs to the business you are dealing with.
What is the difference between IČO, DIČ and IČ DPH?
The IČO is the 8-digit organisation identification number from the register of legal persons. The DIČ is the 10-digit tax identification number, and the IČ DPH is the VAT number: SK plus 10 digits, issued only on VAT registration. Slovenské elektrárne, for example, has IČO 35829052, DIČ 2020261353 and IČ DPH SK2020261353. Check a Slovak VAT number.
Who assigns the IČO?
Since 1 June 2026 the Ministry of the Interior (Ministerstvo vnútra SR) assigns IČOs and runs the register of legal persons. Until 31 May 2026 this was done by the Statistical Office (Štatistický úrad SR).
How many digits does an IČO have?
Eight. Leading zeros are part of the number, as in Tatra banka’s 00686930. If you enter six or seven digits, this checker adds the missing leading zeros.
Does a sole trader have an IČO? (Má IČO aj fyzická osoba?)
Yes, if they are registered as a sole trader (fyzická osoba – podnikateľ) or carry out another activity entered in the register of legal persons. A private individual who is not in the register has no IČO.
Can I check an IČO in VIES?
No. VIES checks EU VAT numbers only. For a Slovak business that is the IČ DPH (SK plus 10 digits), not the IČO.
